Transitioning to a Raw Diet

Posted on December 20th, 2007 by January Harshe

That’s what I’m working on. I just can not deny the difference in how I feel when I eat raw. Let’s compare the 2 for me, shall we.

When I Eat Cooked Food:

I feel bloated
I have gas that can make you pass out
My baby gets stuffed up
My baby pukes more
I feel the effects of not getting a lot of sleep
I feel like I am coming down w/a cold

When I Eat Raw:

I feel lighter
No gas and I much more regular in the bowel movement department.
My baby does NOT get stuffed up
She pukes like a normal baby, I guess
I feel like I have a ton more energy
I feel fabulous!

So, why am I not eat raw all day, every day? I have to transition a bit. I’m not going to just throw out all my food and buy new food. After a week or so now though I have bought a ton of raw food (I’ll be posting a grocery list comparison tonight).

I asked people on rawfoodtalk.com how they transitioned to raw. So far the answers have a common theme…they just jumped in! That’s awesome and inspiring. I am now jumping in. Wish me luck!

I ate mostly raw today, before I went shopping tonight. I have decided I need to "listen to my body". I know that sounds all new age, but it’s true. If we listened and were tuning in more with our bodies, maybe our country wouldn’t be such a health disaster!

I wanted to eat raw flax crackers and raw cheese (want to go vegan again too) all freakin’ day! So, I did. I sipped on water and Synergy Kombucha as well. For dinner we had pasta with oven roasted tomatoes. The tomatoes were yummy, but to tell you the truth the cooked pasta left something to be desired for me. When you eat all raw, the desire for cooked stuff starts to dwindle. I am not forcing anything, b/c that can cause rebellion!

So here is to the transition of a "healthy" SAD diet to a raw vegan lifestyle!
